i am a third year master major in automation at shanghai jiao tonguniversity, p. r. china. with tremendous interest in industrialengineering, i am writing to apply for acceptance into your ph.d.graduate program.

education backgroundin 1995, i entered the nanjing university ofscience & technology (nust) -- widely consideredone of the china’s best engineering schools.during the following undergraduate study, my academic records keptdistinguished among the whole department. i was granted first classprize every semester, and my overall gpa(http://cankao.gcw818.com) ranked no.1among 113 students. in 1999, i got the privilege to enter thegraduate program waived of the admission test. i selected theshanghai jiao tong university to continue my study for its bestreputation on combinatorial optimization and network schedulingwhere my research interest lies.

at the period of my graduate study, my overall gpa(http://cankao.gcw818.com) rankedtop 5% in the department. in the second semester, i became teacherassistant that is given to talented and matured students only. thisyear, i won the acer scholarship as the one and only candidate inmy department, which is the ultimate accolade for distinguishedstudents endowed by my university. presently, i am preparing mygraduation thesis and trying for the honor of excellent graduationthesis.

research experience and academic activity.

when a sophomore, i joined the association of ai enthusiast andbegan to narrow down my interest for my future research. in 1997, iparticipated in simulation tool development for the schedulingsystem in prof. wang’s lab. with the tool ofopengl and matlab, i designed a simulation program fortransportation scheduling system. it is now widely used bydifferent research groups in nust. in 1998, i assumed and fulfilleda sewage analysis & dispose project for nanjingsewage treatment plant. this was my first practice to convert alaboratory idea to a commercial product.

in 1999, i joined the distinguished professor yu-geng xi's researchgroup aiming at network flow problem solving and heuristicalgorithm research. soon i was engaged in the fudan gene databasedesign. my duty was to pick up the useful information amongdifferent kinds of gene matching format. through the comparison andanalysis for many heuristic algorithms, i introduced an improvedevolutionary algorithm -- multi-population genetic algorithm. bydividing a whole population into several sub-populations, thisimproved algorithm can effectively prevent ga from localconvergence and promote various evolutionary orientations. itproved more efficiently than sga in experiments, too. in the secondsemester, i joined the workshop-scheduling research in shanghaiheavy duty tyre plant. the scheduling was designed for therubber-ma-ki-ng process that covered not only discrete but alsocontinuous circumstances. to make a balance point betweenoptimization quality and time cost, i proposed a dynamic layeredscheduling method based on hybrid petri nets. the practicalapplication showed that the average makespan was shortened by alarge scale. i also publicized two pa-pe-rs in core journals withthis idea. recently, i am doing research in the composite predictof the electrical power system assisted with the technology of datamining for bao steel. i try to combine the decision tree withreceding optimization to provide a new solution for the compositepredictive problem. this project is now under construction.

besides, in july 2000, i got the opportunity to give a lecture inenglish in asia control conference (ascc) which is one of thetop-level conferences among the world in the area of control andautomation. in my senior year, i met prof. xiao-song lin, avisiting professor of mathematics from university ofcalifornia-riverside, i learned graph theory from him for mynetwork research. these experiences all rapidly expanded myknowledge of english and the understanding of westernculture.

i hope to study in depth in retrospect, i find myself standing on asolid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared mefor the ph.d. program. my future research interests include:network scheduling problem, heuristic algorithm research(especially in ga and neural network), supply chain networkresearch, hybrid system performance analysis with petri nets anddata mining.

my name is xx-x . there are 4 people in my family. my father is a chemistry teacher. he teaches chemistry in senior high school. my mother is an english teacher. she teaches english in the university. i have a younger brother, he is a junior high school student and is preparing for the entrance exam.

i like to read english story books in my free time. sometimes i surf the internet and download the e- books to read. reading e- books is fun. in addition, it also enlarges my vocabulary words because of the advanced technology and the vivid animations.

i hope to study both english and computer technology because i am interested in both of the subjects. maybe one day i could combine both of them and apply to my research in the future.

good morning. my name is lin rubin. i am honored to be here to get the opportunity to become a potential member of zte.

i was born in fujian province.and i passed four years campus life in beijing forestry university study on international economy and trade..

i participated in lots of school activities and social practice during my four years of campus life. and the experience did a good job to improve the skill of communication and enhance the ability of organization. also, my sense of team spirit is developed. i’m a person who likes challenges.

then, i went to samsung electronic as a sales trainee. for the past one years, i have been in the office of the baidu company., where i have been and still am a key account sales manager.

during my 3 years at work experience, ive always tried hard to seek, confront and conquer challenges, as you can find from my resume. and im sitting here in front of you, well aware that you are going to give me a big challenge. a challenge about applying a job i never done it before. but people says faith moves mountains when opportunity knocks ,i’ll take it.

i am very glad to be here for this interview. i graduated from ****** college in july, **** and major in finance. then, i was a teacher in abc, when i was a senior school student, i am interested in thought and began to read a certain classic work of marxism, especially i finished reading “the florilegium of mao zedong”. from then on, i have dabbled in more and more theoretical works and accumulated great interests in theory study, especially in marxism.

i have a dream, a dream of my study. i wish devote my whole life and energy into the development of the marxism. if i have the opportunity to study in abc university, i’ll dabble in as much as document about the specialty as possible. if it is possible, i want to get the primary accomplishment in my major, at least, a stable basis.

personally, for today’s china, the first task to the development of marxism is a process of construction. that’s to say, we should understand marxism mostly from the aspect of construction and development of social society. only when our socialistic country has a more rapid and balance development than the capitalistic, we can enhance the attractiveness and persuasion of marxism eventually.
